About AuraFlame
A tiny, independent studio building small tools with care.
A small studio. A short story. A long way to go.
AuraFlame is a tiny, fully-remote team building browser extensions and desktop software. We're based across a few time zones, we work asynchronously, and we ship in public.
We're AI-native in the truest sense: we use language models the way other teams use IDEs and search engines — as a tool, a collaborator, and an accelerator. They don't replace the team. They make a small team move like a bigger one.
The studio is independently funded. We don't have outside investors, a roadmap dictated by a board, or a target exit. That gives us the freedom to:
Refuse telemetry even when "everyone does it"
Ship free versions of every product with no daily caps
Open-source the parts that matter, and license the rest clearly
Move slowly when it matters — and quickly when it doesn't
Four ideas show up in every product we ship. They aren't slogans. They're the tests we use when a feature is on the table.
If a feature only works by sending data somewhere, we either redesign it or we don't ship it. We treat user data the way a good diary maker treats paper: it stays where you put it.
Every product is designed to work without a network round-trip. The server is optional. The cloud is a backup. Your device is the source of truth. This is the only architecture that survives a change in terms, a company pivot, or a server outage.
We publish the code for our browser extensions and for aurashell. Anyone can read it, build it, fork it. If we ever stop maintaining a project, the community can keep it alive.
A small team is forced to be clear about what to build and what not to. It's forced to write things down. It's forced to listen to users because there's no sales team in the way.
Remote-first — no office, no required hours, no "quick syncs"
Async by default — written first, calls only when they're faster
Documented in public — blog posts, public roadmaps, open issues
Quarterly shipping — every quarter ships at least one thing worth writing about
Six hours of focus — we protect them the way other companies protect their on-call rotations
We hire slowly, internationally, and based on what someone has shipped. If that sounds like you, say hello.
A short history. We'll keep adding to it.

What we believe
Privacy first
Your data is yours. We never collect what we don't need, and we never sell what we do.
Quiet software
Tools should help, not shout. No popups, no nag screens, no 'engagement' tricks.
Ship small, ship often
We'd rather release a focused, working thing today than a sprawling one next year.
